The Key to New Patient Retention - Luma Health

Written by Tashfeen Ekram, MD | Aug 21, 2015 10:00:34 AM

This is part 1 of a 2 part series on New Patient Retention and Wait Lists. You can read more at part 2.

When we first set out to start Luma Health, we made it our commitment to keep our focus on improving the delivery of patient care. As physicians, we see too many instances where patients need to visit their doctor on a timely basis, but, due to full schedules, they are not able to accommodate an appropriately timed visit.

Patients take the first available appointment, but sometimes it is too late. By the time of the appointment, they have either taken their problem to the ER or worse.

At Luma Health we are building a whole suite of products to help address some of these issues around scheduling, and we hope to share our experience and insights throughout the process. This way, if our product is not a good fit for your practice, we can still help you address the problem.

Our products automatically identify patients who are scheduled far out and are at high risk for late cancellations or no shows.

New Patient Retention

Accepting new patients is a crucial part of most practices to grow business, keep relations with referring doctors, and provide good patient care.

One of the most frustrating experiences for a new patient is not being able to schedule an appointment in a timely manner. Patients will often shop around balancing between doctor reputation and timeliness of the appointment.

In the process, they grab additional appointments as backups that they never intend to keep. The end result is a frustrating process for the patient and an inefficient workflow for clinics. Frustrated patients who need care and can’t balance calling every morning to check for cancelled appointments may end up going without care completely.

Our products automatically identify patients who are scheduled far out and are at high risk for late cancellations or no shows.

These patents are placed on an automatically managed wait list and are contacted for earlier appointments as they become available, driving a more efficient schedule for your staff and making patients happy with the speed they were able to visit their physician. Most importantly, patients get the care when they need it.
